...has TEEFS! [Source.] I think her head would go very well on a 20cm Elfdoll body.

Part of me wants to get ALL THE 1:6 SCALE BJDS!!!!!! The rest of me just wants the following, in order of rarity:
  • Tinybear Bonbon [common] because she's smirking, also fat
  • Xagadoll Lara [common] because she's double-jointed and cute
  • Alchemic Labo Unoa Light Fluorite [scarce] because she's cute, also double-jointed
  • Souldoll Metel [scarce] because she's the best-looking of the Soul Littles
  • Elfdoll Doona Ryung [rare] because I've been lusting after Ryung in 1:3 and 1:6 scales for years

In order of strength of desire, I want Ryung, Lara, Bonbon, Fluorite and Metel.

Isn't this fascinating?
modernwizard: (Default) capitalize on the aforementioned architectural results of trying to do something complex with 1:1 hair in a 1:6 scale wig, is clearly a drag queen fairy. Ideally she would be inresinated by a male Soom Faery Legend to exploit the beautiful body sculpt, as well as the built-in wing slots. Another Metato would be awesome, as his lush features would be dazzling with stylized makeup. Kremer would do for a more androgynous look.

On the other hand, a Lumedoll Lumelight Lucas on a muscular body could also work. I am selecting this sculpt because of its strong, square jawline, although the piddly eyes would have to be opened slightly. Given that body's lack of wing slots, her wings would have to be fabric, which is fine, because male Faery Legend wings are exceptionally heavy; they throw the doll off balance. [Poor Flower.] I'd have to do something about those distressingly blocky, undersculpted Lumedoll hands, though.

Okay, sweetheart, get in line. I've got at least Novella and Lura to do before I get to you. [There could also be someone based on Elfdoll Doona Ryung, but nothing's definite at this point.]

Dolls are such bastards. They actively conspire to excite my lust and steal my money. :p

I found a place that has an Elfdoll Doona Ryung with four faceplates in stock, even though she's long since sold out on Elfdoll's official site. I've been lusting after the Ryung sculpt since 2005, when she was only available in 1:3 scale. And I've been lusting after the Doona version for years as well. I'd love to swap her head onto a 27cm body.

EDIT: All this talk of Lumedoll's creations' aptness for the Library of Intellectum makes me want to rush out and purchase the library assistant, the head librarian, the special collections assistant and the ghost right now!
Dost thou remember Intellectum? I do. It was a city that I created with the help of Daz Studio in August of last year. The focus of my creation was on the Library of Intellectum, which combined advanced technology such as interlibrary loan transmats, with myth in the form of a book wyrm, even the supernatural in the form of ghosts and magic. I even created a cast of characters and assigned them 1:6 dolls:
  • The library assistant, our protagonist, is a Dollmore Melissa Hon. EDIT: Since Dollmore is a cheatin' BJD. co. that I cannot, in good conscience, support by buying directly from them, the library assistant may have to be a Lumedoll Arine with a small bust and sharpened face.
  • The head librarian, her ultimate supervisor, was originally an Obitsu W-03 head on an Obitsu slender male body, even though she is an old woman, but now I think she should be a Lumedoll Lucas head on a Lumedoll fem body, breasts removed.
  • The special collections assistant, our protagonist's friend, was originally an Elfdoll Doona Ryung head on a resin 1:6 male body, but now I think he should be a Lumedoll Koit.
  • The ghost, another of our protagonist's friends, is an Elfdoll Doona Ryung head on a Notdoll 25cm fem body. EDIT: For ease of use, the ghost could also be a Lumedoll Elin with a small bust and shortened legs and torso [just to be younger/smaller than the library assistant].
  • The book wyrm is a felted Chinese dragon with wire inside.
  • Scanty Sophie, the statue on top of the library, is a 2003 ComicCon Takara/BBI silver Cy Girl.
  • The "little fucker" is a DreamHigh Squee.
  • The doll, another of our protagonist's adventures, is unassigned.
  • Various patrons are also unassigned.
I decided that most of the sets would be easy to make:
  • the stacks [two shelves of books forming a corridor and facing each other, grey foamcore background]
  • the book wyrm's lair [grey foamcore background, cardboard tube pillars]
  • the Pierian Spring [ditto, plus painted Styrofoam fountain]
  • the Discard Bin [grey foamcore background, cardboard tube pillars, balsa wood coffins]
  • the ILL center [grey foamcore background, plastic bank of computers]
  • the exterior [computer rendered 3D scene from Daz Studio]
Of course, I didn't have a plot tying all these elements together, but I enjoyed developing them.

Now, over a year later, I'm living in a small apartment with no room for my 1:6 stuff: dolls, clothes, sets and accessories. I have some 1:3 dolls to keep me company, but I greatly miss my 1:6ers. I also miss writing fiction, something I haven't done for the past six months.

My longing for both 1:6ers and stories prompts me to think about returning to the world of 1:6 photostories that I left with Love Has Fangs. I wouldn't go back to LHF; instead, I would return with the Library of Intellectum.

Maybe I'll start working on some character sketches and plot ideas, just to satisfy my desire to be writing again, and I'll see where it goes....

Now she is modeled after Elfdoll's Doona Ryung.

Base is Millennium Girls. Texture is from a character called TenTen by Yamato. Outfit is another permutation of the wonderful, intricate Story Time. Hair is Studio Maya's Spiral Twin Tail.  Read more... )

After I move, I think I'm going to get a new 1:6 BJD. I certainly don't need one, but I want one. It will be one of the following:
  • Elfdoll 14cm Olivia. She is a sleeping elfy dolly, the same size as Waverley.
  • Elfdoll 20cm Doona Ryung. She is the same size as Submit, but with a headsculpt like the 60cm Elfdoll Ryung.
  • Soom Mini Gem 27cm Aren. She has a sweet face.

I would like to get the following dolls, the purchase of which I cannot currently justify:

Notdoll Lucy for Little Anneka.
Fairyland Puki Pong Pong for Geordie.

I also really like the following, but have no designated characters for them:
Elfdoll Doona Ryung.
Notdoll Manjou.
Felix Doll Brownie [of various types].
Sleeping Elf Bonbon. Perfect for a 1:6 woman with dwarfism!

Just as I apparently have a weakness for BJDs by Soom [having had in my house at one time or another a 30cm Uyoo and an 80cm Sabik], I also apparently have a weakness for the Elfdoll tinies, having had in my house at one time or another a 15cm Jin dal Rae [Geordie], a 20cm Hana Devil [Submit 1.0] and 2 20cm Kathlens [Absinthe, Little Will and Submit 2.0].

Anyway, I just recently caught some closeup pictures of the 20cm Elfdoll Doona Little Ryung. She is very charming. She looks more mature than her small, toddler-sized body. Her pointy chin and her petulant pout make her attractively expressive. My favorite faceplate is the one with half-closed eyes, which reminds me of Baozha. The annoyed faceplate reminds me of Cory [with the removal of the stupid leopard faceup].

Bad idea! No need to spend $400.00 to upgrade two minor characters who are already successfully enplasticated! Besides, I just upgraded Susie.

I wish that Elfdoll, like Fairyland, sold faceplates for the tinies separately. [Incidentally, Pongpong is my favorite Puki.]

So I'm getting another Kathlen from Dolls & Friends. No one seems to be buying her [except me], though the price has hit rock-bottom, and she's so adorable. I felt sorry for the unpurchased Kathlens and yearned after them, mostly because the open-eyed face reminds me of a more mature Submit. Thus I made an offer to Dolls & Friends so low that I didn't think they would accept it, but they did, so another is coming my way, along with some miscellaneous Rement cosmetics and bakery items!

Anyway, each Kathlen comes with 1 body, 1 head back and 2 face plates. 1 head back + 1 sleeping face plate went to Absinthe. Since she is on an action fig body, I have 1 open-eyed face plate + 1 Kathlen body left over. I'm not sure what to do with the leftovers; they might become a Very Young Will, or they might become an original character. Anyway, I dressed the extra Kathlen and gave him/her the open-eyed face just to see what he/she would look like. Antique girl with purple eyes below. Awwwww....Read more... )

5 books resold
1 document box recycled
Total 5 riddances
Grand total 64 riddances

NOTE: I'm doing pretty well generating some extra money to cover Kathlen. Plus shipping, she was $231.50. I've done 2 Clarion reviews x $50.00 a review, so there's $100.00. I have also earned $58.58 so far from the sale of BJD items. [It would be more, but for damned Paypal fees.] Anyway, that's $158.58. I'm on the deck for at least 1 more Clarion review x $50.00 a review and 1 Kirkus Discovery review x $50.00 [less taxes] a review, so those two assignments should bring me up around the price of Kathlen.

About Absinthe -- as I mentioned earlier, she'll either be an Obitsu/resin hybrid, which will be cheap, or a hybrid of two types of BJD, which will be costlier. I did a lot of comparisons earlier this week and narrowed down potential resin body donors to the following:

Not Doll/Roxy Pandora/Miriam/Yohimbin. Pluses: Appropriate height, appropriate color, double-jointed arms. Minuses: Single-jointed legs, "droopy" headsculpt. [I might as well try to get another 1:6 kidsy out of this with a headsculpt that I like.]

Soul Doll Soul Little Jandi. Pluses: Beautiful sculpting, double-jointed arms and legs, cute headsculpt. Minuses: Not pale enough, a bit too tall, quite robust.

Orientdoll Joong. Pluses: Inexpensive. Minuses: Too short, just 20cm, no double joints, apparently not being made any more.

GODDAMMIT! Just when I have no money, Elfdoll releases the little Hanas again, this time in pale white, with witch or wizard costumes and POINTY SHOES!  Since they are limited editions, I will probably never get one.

Many children's toys, especially mass-produced stuffed animals and dolls, are relatively inexpensive.

Choo cha!! I just won an Ebay auction for Elfdoll's Devil Hana. I'm bringing home the single doll and turning it into the dicephalus conjoined twins that I mentioned previously. They are called Delenda and Submit.

Submit, the annoying, rambunctious, sadistic one, has brown bobbed hair. Her name comes from one of my ancestors. It's clearly supposed to contrast with her character. Delenda, the reserved, thoughtful one, has dreadlocked pink hair. Her name comes from the gerundive of necessity in Latin, demonstrated in the sentence "Carthago delenda est," which means "Carthage must be destroyed!" Delenda and Submit do not get along in terms of character, but they do love to ride their bike together. I think they are small demon-like creatures from the same realm as Sardonix [who is a succubus, in case you didn't know].

This post gets its title from one of the Hana Devil's faceplates, which is a big squinty smirk. It's an "I just peed in your soda!" expression if I've ever seen one.

So I'm casually thinking about making a pair of dicephalus conjoined twin BJDs that are like my favorite pair of conjoined twins, Abby and Britty Hensel. Below is a list of possibilities for making my set of doll twins. I really don't care if you're not interested. I'm just writing this down so that my ideas will not bother me while I'm trying to work, sleep, crochet, write, walk home or otherwise function in a sane manner.
