Stupid USPS.
Aug. 27th, 2012 08:20 amI'm trying to get an accurate shipping quote to send Noodge in her box to Australia, and USPS will not give me the exact type of shipping I want. What I want is something relatively inexpensive with insurance.
Let's say it's a 2.5 pound package [probably overkill, but let's just be safe]. Where insurance is noted, it's for $195.00.
I could do express mail in a flat rate box with insurance for $75.80, HAH HAH HAH.
I could do international priority in a medium flat rate box with insurance for $52.70, HAH HAH HAH.
I could do international priority in my own packaging with insurance for $47.00, HAH HAH HAH.
And that is the cheapest that USPS goes for insured shipping.
I could do a first class international parcel in my own packaging with registered mail for $32.77, but there's no insurance. Apparently you can't put insurance on first class international parcels. WHY NOT?
