I picked up a Hallmark ornament of Silken Flame Barbie and her travel case to be a doll for Ellery to play with. Today I got the mini doll and the mini case in the mail and checked them out against Jareth and Frank...just the right size to be a doll's doll! The doll can be put in and taken out of the left side of the carrier, and the bottom drawer opens. The clothes on the right, however, are molded into the sculpture of the carrier.

To find similar items on Ebay, search for "barbie traveling case ornament" or similar. Barbie ornaments of dolls without traveling cases are not in correct scale.

EDIT: Uh oh, the light looks too brown. I'll have to substitute wax paper for the parchment paper.

I got my new full-spectrum lamp today! Here's my desk with the new setup. Please ignore the piles of 1:3 clothing I have to either get rid of [on left] or dress Janvier Jett in [on right]. I'm preliminarily pleased with the brightness and clarity of the results.( Read more... )

I feel somewhat guilty about having 17 extra 1:6 dolls hanging around. By “extra,” I mean that they have no point. I keep them because I like them, not because they play any part in my major dolly project, LHF.

A family photo occasions Jennifer's new body, a DML Eve 1.5. The DML 1.5 body, much more robust and bigger than the original Momoko body, makes Jennifer's head look slightly smaller, but I think this adds to the impression of her being a mature woman with kind of a baby face.

Here are 1:6 versions of three-quarters of the characters in my head (left to right): Jareth, Jennifer and Frank. Doll of me not included because it doesn't have a head. Interestingly enough, the dolls don't really look like the characters, but they accurately capture their moods: Jareth serious and shy, Jennifer energetic and innocent, Frank playful and sex-obsessed.

Jennifer, who is a Momoko, came in today, so her arrival occasioned these portraits.( Read more... )

If you know me, you know my enduring interest in capturing Jareth's likeness in doll form. I think I've done satisfactorily in the 1:3 department, but the 1:6 version has always eluded me. I'm getting closer to a great 1:6 interpretation of Jareth. He's a repainted head from a Toy Biz Galadriel doll on an Obitsu slim male body, modified to accept Cy Girl bootfeet. He's wearing a blouse from a Dreams & Legends Miss Fear doll and pants from a Blue Box Cy Girl Jet, along with a pendant that I made. He may or may not be done. Not sure... ( Read more... )
