Pieces of Chaz!!
Dec. 2nd, 2012 03:31 pmFinally got around to opening my Batchix Nan Sook this afternoon. [She arrived while I was away last week.] I gave her a bath to wash away the resin powder still attached. Here she is drying with her extra pieces: two heads [minus headcaps] and another torso.

I instantly warmed to this doll. She's obviously roughly sculpted, but clearly made with love. Her asymmetry and gawky proportions only make her more realistic. Her rough, unperfected quality gives her an expressive liveliness; she reminds me of a gesture drawing in three dimensions.

The head and torso shown in this closeup are actually the factory seconds because, unlike the others supplied, they suffered deep resin bubbles and uneven coloring. The mottled pigmentation, plus the purple undertones in her resin, makes Chaz look bruised and/or sickly, perfect for a zombie! She's also missing an elbow joint, so I guess she'll be missing her hand, forearm and elbow on one side. ^_^
